How waterjet cutting works
Waterjet uses ultra-high-pressure water and garnet to erode a clean line through almost any material — cold. Here's what that means for your parts.
A cleaner way to cut — with no heat
Plasma, laser, and EDM all burn through material and leave heat behind: warped edges, hardened zones, and fumes. Waterjet doesn't. It erodes a line with pressurized water and garnet, so the part never heats up.
That means the piece that comes off our table is finished — flat, clean-edged, and ready to use, with no secondary machining to remove a heat-affected zone.

From pressure to a finished part
- 01Ultra-high-pressure waterA pump pressurizes water to an extreme level and forces it through a tiny jewel orifice, creating a fast, focused stream.
- 02Garnet abrasiveFine garnet is mixed into the stream in the cutting head. The garnet is what lets the jet erode through hard metal, stone, and glass.
- 03A cold, clean cutThe stream erodes a narrow line through the material — no heat, so there's no warping, no hardened edge, and no burnt finish.
- 04CNC precisionThe OMAX 60120 drives the head along your CAD path, holding ±0.002 inch, part after part.
What cold cutting gets you
No heat damage
No warping, no burning, and no re-hardened edge to grind off later.
Almost any material
Metal, hard alloys, stone, glass, composite, foil, and wood — on one machine.
Tight tolerances
